A clean copy of any Word document
Upload a .docx and we read the pages the way a person would, then type the words into a brand-new file. Anything you can't see on the page, like hidden text, comments, tracked changes, macros and metadata, is left behind.

Each page is drawn as a picture and the words are read off it, just like a person reading a printout.
We retype it
The words go into a brand-new Word file, built from scratch with blank properties.

Only the words are kept, not the layout, fonts or images. Table rows come through one per line.

Questions
Do you keep my documents?
No. Your original is deleted as soon as it has been read. The clean copy is deleted 15 minutes after it's ready, or straight away if you click Delete. We never store document contents or file names, and never use them to train anything.
Is the retyping accurate?
Very, for ordinary typed documents: about 96% average recognition confidence in our testing. Like any reading, it can occasionally confuse similar characters such as 0 and O, so please check numbers and reference codes. You can switch on highlighting to mark any word we weren't sure about.
Why not just remove the metadata in Word?
Word's Document Inspector removes a lot, but it works on the file itself, so anything it misses comes along with the document. We never copy the file at all. Only what's visible on the page is retyped, so hidden content has no way through.
How do I cancel?
Log in, click Manage billing, then Cancel. You keep access until the end of the month you've paid for. See our refunds and cancellation policy.
